Kirk Tomlinson wins Coach of the Year

Posted by TASA on Mon, Feb 2nd, 2009

Kirk Tomlinson, TASA's Technical Director for coach and player development, has won the 2008-2009 Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League's Coach Of The Year Award as the Head Coach of the Halifax McDonald's Major Midget Hockey Team.

Kirk inherited a Halifax McDonald's team who had finished in 7th place of 8 teams after the 2006-2007 season and having gained only 23 points. In Kirk's first year, 2007-2008, as Head Coach of the Macs he guided the team to a 5th place finish with 37 points.

The current year, 20098-2009, is Coach Tomlinson's second season at the helm of the McDonald's. He has lead the team to a second place overall finish and 54 points.

In Kirk's short time with the McDonald's he has done an amazing job and sped his team to the top to be one of the best Major Midget teams in Eastern Canada.

TASA already knows how fortunate we are to have Coach Tomlinson work with our players and coaches. The tangible evidence can be seen in the overall improved results of both our recreational and competitive teams.

Congratulations to Kirk.
